Cheating or in other words "borrowing" some information from others just during an examination is a common movement among all students. You can not find a student who has not cheated. But for years there has been a a question in minds. "Does cheating help students learn or not?". The answer of that question changes according to people.According to students, the answer is "yes".According to others,"no"..Although cheating is a way of having an "A" or getting popular, there are lots of cons and realities such as that it is not a learning, that it can make you feel super guilty and that you don't know if the person's answer you cheat of is right.
First of all, cheating is not a learning. It does not help students learn.Because you wouldn't learn what you missed after cheating. You would forget all things you cheat right after exam is over. There would be nothing in your mind.So you would have to study subjects from very beginning harder for another exam or you would have to cheat again.I mean as long as you cheat you couldn't go beyond, you would be at the same point you used to and you would have a big "0" in terms of learning.
Secondly, cheating can make you feel super guilty. Many kids believe that "everybody" cheats and that parents don't care if they cheat and/or don't want to know about it.According to a Los Angeles Times survey of 600 adults, among adults 18 to 34 years old, 70 percent found such assistance acceptable, compared with 57 percent among people older than 35.But when you cheat, you are kind of a liar.Because you are kind of trying to show or tell us that you know and have studied. But that not the reality even if you don't accept that reality.According to David Summergard,a teacher, we should tell students cheating that they are liars.Because many of students tend to shrug off cheating by saying, 'It's no big deal -- everyone does it!" . Summergrad's another opinion is that for students to acknowledge that cheating is a problem, they must feel it as something which is truly wrong."When you are called as a liar it is so probable for you to feel bad.Besides if people figure out,you will lose their trust. So this is another result for you to feel super guilty. So we should assure children that cheating is neither "normal" or acceptable.
As to third one,how can you know if the person's answer you cheat of is right? How can you be sure about it? Maybe that person has not studied like you and s/he is cheating of another person.Like you s/he doesn't know anything about exam and is writing just information s/he cheat. So you could not be at a straight way.You could fail the exam or be given a zero although you expect to pass.So cheating is a very risky choice.
Consequenlty, those cons of cheating are going on so.There is no way for us to tell or accept that cheating is good and helps students learn..It is just a temporary win.Spending lots of time, studying hard and passing exam learning or cheating and being a temporary winner...Which one do you prefer?
